Responsibilities and Ethical Principles of Reviewers
The Journal of Sports Science Academy (JOSSA) is a journal that promotes high ethical standards and academic rigor in scientific publishing. Reviewers play a crucial role in evaluating the scientific value and ethical compliance of submitted works. They are expected to uphold the journal's academic standards by adhering to principles of impartiality, confidentiality, and constructive criticism. The following guide outlines the responsibilities of reviewers and the ethical principles they should follow during the review process.
1. Impartial and Confidential Review
In the double-blind peer review system, authors' identities are not disclosed to reviewers. Similarly, reviewers must avoid direct communication with authors and maintain impartiality throughout the process.
Confidentiality of the manuscript content and all related information must be ensured.
2. Timely Review
Reviewers are required to evaluate the assigned manuscripts within the specified time. If they are unable to complete the review within the given period, they must promptly inform the journal editor.
3. Scientific Relevance and Expertise
Reviewers should evaluate only works within their area of expertise. If the manuscript falls outside their field, they should notify the editor immediately.
4. Constructive Criticism and Feedback
Reviews should contribute to improving the manuscript. Feedback must be clear, well-justified, and constructive. Personal comments and sarcastic language should be avoided.
5. Identifying Ethical Issues
Any potential ethical concerns (e.g., plagiarism, misuse of data, conflicts of interest) identified in the manuscript should be reported to the editor.
